Branislav Ivanovic's second game back following injury was as a central defender at Swansea. Therefore Jose Bosingwa was reassigned the right-back duties that had been Ivanovic's at QPR in the previous game, and it was a ball from the boot of the Portuguese defender that was deflectedin during stoppage time to give Chelsea a 1-1 draw.
It has been widely reported it was a cross rather than a shot that Neil Taylor diverted into his own net although Bosingwa says it was a shot and Ivanovic agrees.
'For me it is looking like a shot because he had already crossed a couple of balls and nothing had happened from those,' he tells the official Chelsea website, 'so he tried a surprise and it got a deflection, but I think we deserved an equaliser and it was nice for Jose as well.'
Swansea had a good amount of possession in the first half but turned it into just the one goal - Scott Sinclair's shot that looped over Petr Cech. The fact the home side didn't add more was down in no small part to the anticipation of Ivanovic and his central defence partner David Luiz who in turn blocked a shot on the line from Gylfi Sigurdsson and a follow-up effort from Danny Graham. The scoring opportunity came because Cech had left his area in response to danger.
'It is always in the mind of the defender to get back there when somebody passed the keeper when the keeper went out to help protect the line,' says Ivanovic, 'and we were successful in this situation, but still we have to do a lot of things better.
'It was a very hard game for us. We played away against a team who played very good football, but we should do better in the first half. As a team, the second half was much better.'
Going into the dressing room at half-time knowing they were trailing to the Barclays Premier League newcomers, and having the chance to discuss the display, led to Chelsea taking control of possession and pinning our opponents back more in the second 45 minutes.
'The result was negative for us so we tried to do everything to change this. We tried to push harder forward and tried to do the simple things better, and in the end we equalised and as I said, I think we deserved to.'
